3/15/2013 004_SKETCHSketches are quick transitions of lucid ideas into a physical page, the prelude to refined ideas. 004_SKETCH showcases designer sketches, utensils used, and the designers. The intention is to reveal the idea-pen/pencil-paper relationship: how design ideas travel and transform through sketching. This is an exhibit of drawings produced by local Winnipeg designers – be it fashion, furniture, landscape, or architecture – each sketch is an exploration of a design idea/production exposing the public to various tactics in sketching will bring a heightened awareness of the methodology and development behind ideation.

Founded in 1991 by a group of students that wanted to showcase the strength of the Faculty following a dormancy in published work that had lasted since the 1970s. It set forth with the mandate for being a medium in which to foster and disseminate discourse and critique. Since then each year a volume is put forth by a different set of editors and thus each year Warehouse finds a unique creative direction, editorial style, and scale of production – all the while maintaining an initial mandate seeking to find the relationship between architecture and publishing. Volumes 1-21 reflect the evolutionary changes to the academic structure of the Faculty, and reveal the changing world of publishing through its level of production and aesthetic value.
More information on the Warehouse Journal can be found at www.warehousejournal.org 12/13/2012 002_WEARThe exhibition 002_WEAR featured the creative forces behind locally celebrated designers, showcasing the design process and it’s rich outcomes. The concept behind the inaugural MAKE retail event, is that the public gain a perspective on the fabrication of the product, while simultaneously providing an opportunity to purchase the exhibited item. The talent behind 002_WEAR includes Jill Sawatzky, of Tony Chestnut Clothing; as well as Christie Peters and Jennifer Pauls, the collaborative force of For You, Me & Us.
9/24/2012 001_BUILDFrom September 24-29, for the Winnipeg Design Festival, we hosted Carely Friesen and Mike von Tiesenhausen as they held the event entitled Joinery – a public collaborative structure/sculpture project. 8/17/2012 000_MODELWe believe architectural models, especially ones produced as part of design processes, are saturated with energy and ideas. Through MODEL, our intention is to offer the public a view into design offices and their design process. This may foster greater appreciation and awareness in design experiments and processes, while exposing vibrant and critical practices like yours to a greater public audience. Models stay on display till Wednesday Aug 22. CONTRIBUTORS 1X1 Architecture 5468796 Architecture inc. DIN Projects spmbBLDG Sputnik Architecture H5 Architecture |
